Wild Atlantic Way 06: Mullaghmore and Streedagh

A harbour village and a long strand make North Sligo worth a day of its own.
Mullaghmore harbour, County Sligo

Start at the harbour

Mullaghmore gives the North Sligo chapter a clear starting point. Spend some time around the village and harbour before deciding how much more driving you want to do. Use the destination guide for current local options, including places to eat and activities that need an advance booking.

Out to Streedagh

Streedagh, near Grange, offers a different encounter with the coast. Read the beach information before visiting and check the weather, tide and local notices. A beach can be a place for a shore walk or a view without becoming a recommendation to enter the water. Leave room to turn back if conditions make the visit uncomfortable.

Choose a North Sligo base

Staying nearby makes it easier to give this area a proper evening. If you are continuing to Sligo town, Rosses Point or Strandhill, compare the actual driving connections before booking dinner or a room. The next chapter covers those places; there is no need to fit the whole county into this one.
