Wild Atlantic Way 07: Rosses Point, Strandhill and Sligo

Use Sligo as a town break, a coastal base or a combination that leaves time for both.

Two coastal choices

Rosses Point and Strandhill offer two different ways to spend time by the water near Sligo. Read their destination guides and choose the place that best suits your plans. A village visit, a booked activity and a walk each need different arrangements; decide which matters most before adding a second stop.

A town in the middle of the journey

Sligo town can give an Atlantic road trip a welcome change of rhythm. Stay within reach of the places where you want to eat or spend the evening, then check the return journey from any coastal outing. A town base works particularly well when it lets part of the day happen on foot.

Continuing west

Easkey and Enniscrone are further options as the journey turns towards Mayo. Consult the wider Sligo guide and a route map before choosing your next overnight stop. Keep this leg flexible enough to spend longer in one place when the weather is good, or to finish early when it is not.

Before you go

Check local activity conditions and transport times. A destination’s popularity for surfing does not establish safe swimming conditions.
