Stay for the city
Choose a local-history visit, an exhibition or a part of Limerick you would like to explore, then leave time around it. The city’s destination guide helps with the first shortlist; the venue’s own information will tell you what is happening on your date. Keep an evening for a meal rather than making every hour another transfer.
Follow the estuary to Foynes
Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum gives a county day out a particular story to follow. Look at the current visitor experience and make time for its aviation and maritime subjects. A stay in the city and a visit to Foynes can belong to the same break, with the connection between them properly planned.
A longer waterside journey
The Shannon Estuary Way is a touring loop through Clare, Limerick and Kerry. It offers another way to spend time around the estuary, especially if that landscape and its history interest you. It is an optional detour from a western-coast journey, rather than a compulsory leg of the Wild Atlantic Way.
