Galway: a city evening and a Connemara stay

Choose a city rhythm or a landscape-focused break, with time for each if you have both in mind.

Give the city an evening

Galway city is worth a place in the trip beyond the time between arriving and setting off for Connemara. Choose an exhibition, a performance or an area you want to explore, then leave time for a meal. Check current venue listings if music or theatre is part of the plan.

Out into Connemara

Connemara National Park offers a different focus in County Galway. Use its visitor information and route descriptions to choose the outing that suits your group. A visitor-centre introduction and a mountain walk are different commitments. Staying near the area you want to explore makes an early start or a relaxed afternoon easier.

Leave an island its own time

If you want to add an island visit, plan the crossing before fitting it into the rest of the break. Departure points, return sailings and time ashore deserve attention. A city evening, a park visit and an island day can all appeal, but they do not need to share one hurried itinerary. Keep one for the next Galway trip if time is short.
