Wild Atlantic Way 15: the Cliffs of Moher and west Clare

Give the cliffs a considered visit, then follow your interests towards Kilkee and Loop Head.

Plan the cliff visit first

The Cliffs of Moher are a major stop on the Clare coast, with an official visitor experience and changing practical information. Check the operator’s website before travelling. Access to the visitor site and access along a longer coastal walking route are separate matters; a ticket or an open visitor centre does not establish that an extended path is available.

A second Clare chapter

Further south, Kilkee offers a different coastal base. Use the local destination information to plan an outing that fits the conditions and the time you have. The wider Loop Head area is another option, with individual visitor sites to check before adding them to the day.

Before the estuary

Decide where you want to finish before extending this leg. The next chapter offers a choice between a Shannon ferry crossing and a longer estuary route. Looking ahead now can prevent an evening rush, especially if your accommodation is on the Kerry side and a ferry service is part of the plan.

Before you go

Read current Cliffs of Moher coastal-walk and access notices separately from ticket information. Check weather and any onward ferry service.
