Clare: limestone country and the Atlantic coast

Give the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and west Clare room to be different visits.

Look closely in the Burren

A visit to the Burren rewards attention to small details as much as a wide view. Burren National Park is one part of this larger limestone region. Use the park’s visitor information to choose an introduction or a walking route, taking account of the conditions and everyone travelling with you.

Plan the cliffs separately

The Cliffs of Moher deserve a visit in their own right. Check the attraction’s current information and the separate notices for the coastal walk. A ticket to the managed visitor experience does not establish that the longer walking route is open. Keep the visit within the access arrangements in place on the day.

Pick your Clare base

Doolin and Kilkee suggest different ways to spend an evening and explore the coast. Decide where you want to stay before adding more stops to the map. If live music is part of the plan, check a current venue listing. A good evening in one village is often a better use of the trip than another long drive after dinner.
