Donegal: Inishowen, Fanad and a peninsula of your own

Choose a part of Donegal to settle into, with the rest saved for another trip.

A beginning on Inishowen

Malin Head is a natural focus for a visit to Inishowen. Give the wider peninsula time around the headland rather than making arrival at the viewpoint the whole trip. Choose your base with the journey home in mind and follow the current local advice for exposed coastal sites.

The lighthouse at Fanad

Fanad Lighthouse offers a different Donegal visit, connecting the coastal setting with the lives of the lightkeepers. Look at the experiences available and ask about the parts of the site you would like to see. Tower access and a ground-level visit may suit different members of your group.

An evening without another transfer

Inishowen, Fanad and south-west Donegal are different areas to explore. Choose one for a short break and stay long enough to enjoy an evening there. Look for a current craft, music or cultural event if that interests you, or simply leave time for a meal and a book. Donegal is a good county to return to with a different peninsula in mind.
