A lighthouse above the water
Fanad Lighthouse is the main draw on this stretch. The white buildings and rocky headland make a striking scene, but a visit can also explain the lighthouse’s working history. Use the operator’s current booking information to distinguish a guided visit from simply viewing the coast. Check steps and access arrangements if anyone in your group needs them.
Around the peninsulas
The Mulroy Drive guide is a useful companion for exploring Fanad and Rosguill. Read it alongside a map rather than treating every suggested stop as an obligation. Ballymastocker Bay offers a different coastal setting from the lighthouse headland, while the bays and inlets around Mulroy give the drive its shape.
Make room for the roads
These peninsulas reward a measured day. Allow for narrow roads, passing places and the time it takes to find a suitable stop. Arrange the evening around your actual accommodation, particularly outside the main season. If you are continuing towards Dunfanaghy, check the whole connection before adding another peninsula loop.
