Armagh: astronomy, ancient stories and a city break

Put a planetarium visit or Navan Fort at the centre of a few days in Armagh.

An afternoon looking up

Armagh Observatory and Planetarium gives a city break an unusual starting point. Look through the current programme and choose a show or activity that appeals to your group. A booked dome show gives the day a definite anchor, with time afterwards to explore the city. The research observatory and the visitor facilities have different roles and access arrangements.

Out to Navan

Navan Centre & Fort offers another way into the county, through its ancient history and interpretation. Give it a visit of its own rather than trying to fit it into a spare few minutes. Check what is included in the experience and how much time the centre recommends for your visit.

Between the main visits

Leave some time for Armagh’s streets, a meal and an unplanned stop. If orchards or blossom are the reason for your trip, look for an actual visitor opening or event before booking accommodation. The date matters more than the photograph: a spring image cannot tell you what is happening during your own stay.
