What this notice covers
This notice covers visiting Ramble.ie and contacting us about enquiries, corrections, rights, advertising or proposed contributions. The publication currently has no reader registration, comments, newsletter signup, file-upload form, booking checkout or paid directory. It does not add people who send an enquiry to a marketing list.
Visiting the website
Our web server processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include IP address, request date and time, requested page or search address, browser details, referring page and security events. We use it to serve pages, diagnose faults and investigate misuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a functioning, secure publication. We do not use advertising pixels. Optional readership analytics is described below.
Optional readership analytics
With your consent, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand readership. Google receives technical connection information and measurement data, including a browser identifier, page title and the clean page address. We omit URL query strings, fragments and referring-page information from our page-view events. Search pages, error pages and signed-in staff visits are excluded. We do not enable enhanced interaction measurement, Google Signals or advertising personalisation in this implementation, and do not send enquiry contents or email addresses to Analytics. Google Ireland Limited supplies the service, with processing by Google and its service providers that can take place outside the EEA, including in the United States. Google describes its applicable transfer frameworks and contractual safeguards in the linked information. Our lawful basis for this optional measurement and its browser storage is consent. Rejecting it leaves the publication available. Use Cookie settings to withdraw consent; this stops future collection from this browser and clears the first-party Analytics cookies. Withdrawal does not make earlier processing unlawful.
Enquiries and contributions
When you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information or attachments you choose to include. We use these to respond, assess a pitch, handle a correction or rights issue, and keep an appropriate record of the outcome. Our basis is our legitimate interest in handling the correspondence. Where an individual asks us to take steps towards a contract or we enter an agreement with them, contractual necessity applies to the information required for that purpose. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information or private information about other people.
Publication and rights records
If we agree to publish a contribution, its rights, credits and any personal information to appear publicly will be addressed in the publication agreement. Sending a pitch does not itself authorise publication. Records needed to establish permission, credit a contributor or answer a rights or accuracy question may be kept while the relevant material remains in use and for a justified period afterwards. We may also process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Who can receive information
Access is limited to authorised people administering or editing the publication, and service providers supporting that work. Hosting is supplied by Contabo on the Netherlands server identified for this project. Incoming domain email is routed through Register365, operated by Namesco Ireland Limited. Hosting and email providers process data required to provide and secure those services. Professional advisers and public authorities may receive relevant information where necessary and lawful. We do not sell enquiry details or automatically pass them to linked businesses.
Processing locations
The website hosting location is the Netherlands. Register365’s published privacy information describes processing in the UK and/or EU, and the use of adequacy decisions or European Commission-approved contractual safeguards for international transfers. This means the website’s hosting location is not a claim that every email or support operation stays in one country. Contact admin@ramble.ie for information about relevant service-provider safeguards or to request a copy where available.
How long information is kept
Routine enquiries are reviewed for deletion within 12 months of the last substantive contact. A correction, complaint, rights record or contractual matter may need to be kept longer according to whether the issue is resolved, the associated material remains published, an agreement remains relevant or a legal obligation or claim requires the record. Technical and security records are retained according to the investigation or troubleshooting purpose and are reviewed for continued need. Backups are held for recovery within the configured rotation; if a backup is restored, relevant deletion requests must be applied again. These criteria limit retention to what the particular purpose requires. Analytics user and event data retention is set to two months, without resetting user retention on new activity. Most aggregated standard reports are outside that user/event retention control. Our Analytics cookie lifetime and remembered consent choice are limited to 180 days.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Rights have conditions and exceptions. Email admin@ramble.ie to make a request. We may ask for proportionate information to establish identity or clarify it. We normally respond within one month and will explain any lawful extension or limitation.
Complaints and choices
You may complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission at https://www.dataprotection.ie/ or another competent supervisory authority. You do not have to contact us first. Providing information in an enquiry is voluntary, although we may need a reply address and relevant details to answer it. We do not use visitor information for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. The publication is intended for a general audience and does not ask children to submit personal information.
Links and changes
Our Cookie Policy explains website storage. Ordinary links, including commercial links to Craftgifts.ie, take you to separate services with their own privacy information. We will update this notice when the site or its processing changes; continued browsing does not constitute consent to a new optional use.

Website article submissions
The Submit a Story form collects your name, email address, proposed title, article text, selected county, any optional sources or note, and confirmation that you may submit the material. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information or private information about other people. The form does not accept file uploads.
We use the submission to consider it for publication, communicate with you and record the editorial decision. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in assessing contributions and running the publication. If we take steps towards an agreement with you, we use the information needed for those steps on the basis described above for contractual necessity. Acknowledging this privacy notice does not subscribe you to marketing.
The article is saved in WordPress as Pending Review. It is not published automatically or included in public article lists. Contributor contact details and notes are kept separately from publishable article text, encrypted in storage and available to authorised editorial staff. Article bodies are not sent to the CRM through this form. Hosting and authorised service-provider access are as described in this notice. The form does not grant us publication rights; permission, credit, editing and any payment must be agreed before accepted material is used.
Unsuccessful or withdrawn submissions are reviewed for deletion within 12 months of the last substantive contact, unless a rights issue, complaint, legal obligation or claim justifies keeping relevant information longer. Accepted contributions and their permission records are retained according to the publication and rights-record criteria above. Deletion requests should identify the submission and be sent to admin@ramble.ie. Recovery backups remain subject to the existing rotation and reapplication of deletion requests after a restore.
To prevent repeated copies, we retain a non-public keyed fingerprint and submission reference. Temporary request-limit records use a keyed hash of the connection address rather than storing another copy of the raw address. Server logs remain subject to the technical-record criteria in this notice. Any staff notification identifies that an article awaits review without including its text or contributor contact details.
We send a brief acknowledgement to the email address supplied with a new article. It confirms receipt for editorial review and does not include the article text, private notes or a publication commitment. This service email does not subscribe you to marketing. Identical repeat submissions do not send another acknowledgement. Email delivery can fail independently of the saved article; the on-page confirmation reports whether the article was saved.
